Just a couple decades ago, people were doing everything manually. If a farmer wanted to try and find a lost cow, he would have to get a plane or a car. However, with recent advancements, drones have become a staple in a large part of farming. They are used for many things such as spotting a bad section of grass or crops.
Why are drones so useful?
Drones are actually pretty similar to planes. The drones, like the planes, can fly and spot many different things except a drone can do even more. Since they are so small, drones can get really close to crops and livestock without damaging or hurting them. They are also really good for spot control. If a farmer finds a patch of crops not developing as well, he can get really close and find the issue. Also, unlike a plane, a drone can stop in mid-air and hover which is something no normal plane could do.
What are some Downsides to using Drones
Although they are quite useful, drones are not without their flaws. For one, drones can be kind of expensive, a farmer also needs certain licenses. Still, the farmer would need to abide by any “maximum altitudes”(Associated Press 19). All of this could make some potential buyers leave however when one looks back at the uses, the drone still beats any other method.
Are Drones the Future of Farming?
Are drones the future of farming? Well, the short answer is yes. As demand goes up, farmers will have to look for new ways to create a product and when drones grant pecuniary advantages such as “flying over fields faster than a car could drive”(Associated Press 3), one couldn’t help but wonder if one day, machines will be taken over by drones.
The Age of Absolutism was a time of great sorrow and unjust in the world. Many countries were ruled in an absolute rule meaning a monarch or main person ruled over everyone with no just system. The leader of these countries: monarchs; was a King or Queen who ruled over or had a symbolic purpose in a country. One of these monarchs was Peter the Great. Peter the Great was the leader of the Russian nation during the 17th century. He was an absolute ruler because of the harsh rule he had on his people and his strive to create perfection by heavily taxing his people. Before Peter the Great, a Philosopher named Thomas Hobbes took influence from earlier governments to form an idea of government. Thomas Hobbes believed that man was evil and that without a strong leader, the world would be war-stricken. King Charles I, was an English Monarch who is known for recalling the parliament and imposing taxes on his people, created the Petition of Rights. The petition of rights was a document that wished to set 4 new rights into place which were: no taxation without parliament consent, no imprisonment without cause, no quartering of soldiers on subjects, and no martial law in peacetime.
The Rise of Constitutionalism
Around that same time that Thomas Hobbes was thinking about Absolutism, another Philosopher named John Locke created a lot of contradictions to Thomas. Locke believed that man can be good if he tries and that humans should be born free. John Locke believed that man should be able to fairly govern themselves and that they should be able to be reasonable with one another. John Locke’s ideas were further reformed into what we know today as constitutionalism. King William and Queen Mary are a good example of constitutionalism. Although they were monarchs, they transferred England from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy which took power away from themselves and gave it back to the people in the form of the Cabinet and the Bill of Rights. This Bill of Rights gave the people the freedom to bear arms, fines without reason, speech, and unnecessary taxation. The Cabinet was erected to help bridge the monarchy and the Parliament. Another constitutional monarch was King Charles II. King Charles II is known for many things including creating The Habeas Corpus Act which guarantees freedom for prisoners and allows them the rights to a court case before being imprisoned. This act also made it legal for someone to have opposing ideas from the monarch. When King Charles II died, his brother James took the throne and opposed the English law by appointing several Catholics into high office. The English Protestants became very weary of this growth of catholicism in England so his daughter and her husband Mary and William tried to overthrow him for the sake of Protestantism. King James thought that his army was powerful enough but when William led his army to him, James fled to France. Oliver Cromwell was the first person to write a detailed constitution that limited the power of the leader. His constitution placed great power in an executive branch, however, his country was still under rule by a military presence. He was soon recommended to become the monarch of his country and as his countries “lord and savior” he quickly became its monarch.
This year is 2020, and that means it’s an election year. Tomorrow, Nov. 3rd, we will either have a new president or the same president for his final term. So the question is, who will win? Is there anything that really stands out about either candidate that could drastically sway the vote?
Introducing the Candidates
This year, we have two main candidates that we will be focusing on; Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Joe Biden is the Democratic representative and Donald Trump is the Republican representative. Joe Biden is running for the first time and is gaining a lot of attraction for his opposing ideas against Trump. Trump, on the other hand, looking more to the people of America who believe strongly in some of their American beliefs. As we continue, we will look further into these candidates and why they both make some very convincing statements.

Starting off with Donald Trump. Donald Trump’s main focus has always been to keep the economy high, give money to the working American man/woman, and build better borders. Creating better borders has always been a strong part of his campaign as a lot of Americans agree with him that nobody should be allowed into this country without legal documentation because when they work, they take money away from the working man. However, this hasn’t been as easy as it sounds. As NY Times puts it, “Construction of a wall along the country’s southern border, intended to halt the flow of undocumented immigrants into the country, has been slow going,” Although he seems like a really good president, he isn’t without flaw. As the NY Times states, “Mr. Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic has not been a defining issue of his presidency for long,” His handling of the Coronavirus made him one of the most disliked pupils in America as a lot of people think that the over 230k thousand people dead, could’ve been prevented, however, according to the CDC, only around 10k people are dead solely from Covid, while the others have some sort of underlying condition. Donald Trump, just like Biden, is a good choice for the Republican candidate in this year’s election.

Joe Biden’s main focus is to deal with the Corona Virus, raise taxes on the rich, solve social injustice, and to try and reduce America’s net pollution rate. One of Biden’s most popular points is his way that he wishes to deal with the Corona Virus. He thinks that America should face it more directly by telling the states that “All governors should put a state-wide mask mandate (Biden, Sept. 28, 2020, https://bbc.in/3kPXdaS). His second key point is the current social injustice dilemma going on. He wants to put 30 billion USD into a program that helps with the racism that he believes exists in America. He wishes to use this money to help with the wage gap that many colored people face in modern-day America. As BBC puts it, “Mr. Biden has now proposed policies to reduce incarceration, address race, gender, and income-based disparities in the justice system, and rehabilitate released prisoners.” BBC, Sept. 28, 2020, https://bbc.in/3kPXdaS. His last goal is to reduce America’s net pollution rating to help with the climate change that he believes is occurring right as we speak. Joe Biden believes that joining the Green New Deal will help the environment in ways we haven’t seen before. Quoting Joe Biden himself, “Biden believes that the Green New Deal is a crucial framework for meeting the climate challenges we face.” Joe Biden, like Donald Trump, is a well worth it advocate for his side of the election.
Who will win and why?
The swing states that could determine the outcome of this year’s election.
This year has been very chaotic and to add to that, we have an election which may be the election with the most people voting ever. As of today, Nov. 2nd, over 100 million people have voted to make it one of the most voted upon elections ever. This is all good news because in America, according to CNN, over 130 million people voted in 2016 and we are already at over 100 million and we aren’t even to election day yet. Now that we know that about the overwhelming amount of votes, let’s focus on who will win. According to many polls from many different sources such as FOX, CNN, BBC America, and Real Clear Politics, Joe Biden is the likely winner. A few of these polls can be seen below and although he is winning the polls, like in 2016, many of the Trump supporters didn’t do any polls but voted which is why there was such a big difference in the number of votes on the poles that Hillary got, and the number of votes that Hillary got. NBC believes that “This year may be a repeat of 2016″(Earnest, Oct 28, 2020, https://nbcnews.to/3kVVctJ). They think that this year will be nearly identical because of a group of people called the “silent majority”. This group is a set of people who don’t really do the poles and keep their political opinions to themselves. Instead, they wait and listen to what either side has to say and base their opinions on that instead of what the media has to say. Since these people tend to not show off their opinions until election day, the poles tend to be more inaccurate than a lot of people including the president would like them to be. Because of these groups of people, we have things called swing states. Swing States are states that usually don’t stick to one part of every election. An example of a non-swing state would be Alabama. Almost every time Alabama votes, we go red. Here are a few polls from the Swing States that have a very important amount of electoral votes.
Who do I think Will Win?
I personally think that Donald Trump will win this year. Although I think he will win, I do not think he will win by much because he is one of the most disliked people in America today. This is why I think that a lot of people are going to vote against him even though Joe Biden may be the worse candidate. People have begun to think so poorly on Donald Trump that even the people that are so invested in Biden say that they are only voting for him because they’d rather have him in office, than have Trump in the office for another 4 years. Do I think that either president is going to bring a really good change to our country? The short answer is no. I think that no matter who wins, America will come to a point in which one side just can’t deal with the other. I hope it never comes but with how our country is going right now, I would not be surprised if some tensions start to grow above a verbal level.
The Reformation was a time of great conflict between the Protestant and Catholic Churches. It was during a time of great deception that Martin Luther brought the truth to the people of his church. Martin Luther, born in 1483, was a professor who realized the church’s wrongdoings and that they should be exposed.
How did Martin Luther Justify standing up to the Church?
The Reformation was caused because Martin Luther believed that the church was corrupt. His first reason was the fact that their salvation didn’t lie within God. They didn’t teach people that the only way to gain salvation was through God. Another way that he felt that they were corrupt was the way that they started focusing more on spiritual attention on them instead of God himself. The people in the Catholic Church were still forced to believe anything the Pope said because they weren’t able to read the bible but the people of the Protestant Church were able to read it because of the translations that Martin Luther Provided. Another difference between the Protestant Church and the Catholic Church was the way that was shown to gain salvation. Both churches believed in salvation but the Catholic Church lied to the common folk and said that paying the church all of your riches was the only way to earn salvation but the Protestant Church told people that the only way to gain salvation was through God and only through God as giving people all of their things did nothing but follow God’s teachings of giving more than you receive.

What Caused and was Impacted by the Reformation?
The Reformation was mainly caused by Martin Luther’s understanding of the church’s lies and false teachings. deception. “A call to purify the church and a belief that the bible, not tradition, should be the sole source of spiritual practice”. This quote shows how Martin Luther believed that the church wasn’t being true to what they said because it states that they weren’t going to God for salvation but instead tradition. This quote also shows how the church was teaching the people wrong things and again as mentioned above, how they lied about what they were truly doing to gain things that God actually says is wrong. God says that no man should love material over God and the Pope shows how they go against this by telling everyone that they’re the only way to salvation and not God himself. Later on, this lead to impacts, like the mainstream use of the printing press. As Martin Luther expanded his Church, he realized that in order for everyone to be able to read the bible. He had to have a faster way to make them. So he used the printing press which made the bible a much more relevant and easy to access thing.

The Renaissance era was one of the most revolutionary times. People started looking at things differently trying to make ideas of their own instead of listening to leaders that tell everyone that they are correct. Defying a king or queen can be heresy of the highest order which is one of the reasons that the Renaissance era was so revolutionary. People defied their societal norms and thought for themselves.
Current events with Connections to the Renaissance Era
Many current events are similar to the Renaissance because people are taking a look back at what is going on in the world. A good example would be the current Black Lives Matter protests. America is going through an internal conflict that dates back to the times when America was just becoming a free country. Black people were originally slaves which lasted for over 100 years, but as time went on, people slowly started to realize that black men and women are still men and women. People started to realize that instead of following what everyone else was doing, they would choose to think for themselves. Just like in the renaissance, people thought for themselves and realized that no matter the race of a man, he is still a man. As we approach the present day, America has come a long way from slavery. Police violence and brutality against African Americans still occurs today however, just like the Renaissance era and the previous years of America, people are learning to think for themselves. A lot of people are thinking that Black people deserve so much better because of the social injustice that has been put against them.
In his short story, “The Most Dangerous Game”, Richard Connell tells the story of a stranded man who is forced to be hunted by an islander because the islander is simply tired of hunting animals because animals don’t have the thought process that humans do. General Zaroff, the psychopath character, is tired of hunting the animals of his island, so when a human falls ashore, he is quick to realize that hunting him would be much better. The man, Rainsford, washed ashore after hearing gunshots and being thrown off the edge of the boat. Soon, he quickly realized that something was a bit different about this man and that he was quite strange. Little did he know, the General would be hunting him very soon.
In their article, “Does Hunting Help or Hurt the Environment”, EarthTalk talks about the in-balance of hunting and how it affects the environment. In their article, they mention different arguments on both sides from a very strong minded environmentalist to a person who hunts for sport. The point that they tried to get across was that hunting keeps populations in control but makes biodiversity very difficult because the species’s are being killed off before they can become different than the others.
What is the difference between Humans and Animals?
Humans, like many other animals, have pain receptors. This means that no matter what is being hunted, it feels pain. The main difference between humans and any other animal is our ability to feel remorse, morality, and guilt. If an animal kills something for food, it doesn’t feel bad as they are just doing what they have always done. However, whenever most humans kill things, we feel guilty and hope that the animal doesn’t suffer too much because we know it isn’t a nice thing. However, an animal will eat another animal while they’re alive and make them feel every bit of it without feeling a thing because it’s just not in their mind that the animal is suffering.

Is Killing for Sport Beneficial?
Most people hunt to eat the food that the animal that they kill gives them. Some, however, kill for the thrill of it and just let the animal become apart of the forest. Nothing deserves to die just because you feel like it is good for your moral. The main difference between humans and animals is the simple fact that no animal (besides humans) hunts for sport. When they hunt and kill, they eat almost everything off of the animal so that nothing goes to waste. This is mostly the same with humans because of those who kill for food, the majority do not waste the animal because they know that the edible parts should be eaten instead of wasted. With all of this information, it makes me think that only a psychopath would hunt for sport because of such a lack of respect for the animal’s existence.

Is hunting humans okay?
Is hunting humans okay? The simple answer, no. Thinking back to the story, you see the similarities between how some people hunt animals and how General Zaroff hunts Rainsford. Neither situation contains any bit of morality as they’re both being hunted for the gain of the hunter through happiness. In the story and in real life, people don’t always share feelings of morality. They don’t understand what is considered okay, and what isn’t. Sometimes all they know is death and destruction because that’s the family that they grew up in.
Sometimes people think that they are not enough. They think that they aren’t pretty or they aren’t handsome. Both women and men struggle with self-love because of many different things like non-supportive peers and/or family members. Hopefully, after reading this, you will learn or be able to teach someone why loving yourself is so beneficial towards your/their overall personality and way of living.
#1. Personal Confidence
Personal Strengths
A very big part of self-love is being able to appreciate what you have and what you don’t have. If you can’t find exterior confidence, find it within. Maybe you don’t believe that you are appealing on the outside but your personality is really what wins people over, use it. Self-confidence is showing people that you aren’t afraid of who you are. Don’t be afraid to show people your best side.
Personal Flaws
Another very big part of self-love is being able to understand your flaws and that everyone has flaws, nobody is perfect. Being able to understand that just because maybe you aren’t pretty on the outside doesn’t mean that you aren’t pretty. Be confident with what you have and also be willing to talk about your flaws. Sometimes, people might notice the same flaws in themselves. Just never be afraid to understand what flaws you have and don’t be afraid to own them.
#2. Self-Preservation
Physical-Preservation
Loving yourself means keeping yourself looking and feeling as best as you want it to be. A big part of this is Preserving yourself so that you feel better about yourself. In my opinion, keeping yourself looking and smelling fresh and clean really makes you feel better. There is nothing worse than sweating only to know that maybe you for your anti-perspirant. You just need to always make yourself presentable to everyone around you but also and most importantly to yourself. The better you look, usually the better you’ll feel.
Mental-Preservation
Another key part of self-preservation is your mental state. Your mental state is always the key factor in whatever you do because if you just don’t want to do something, chances are you won’t. This also goes along with physical-preservation because if you think you don’t look good (even if you do), you won’t look good. Everything that makes a human flawed is something that can make your mental state not very good. Sometimes, it might help to just think happy thoughts. No matter how you look, own it, and say you’re beautiful. You should always like the way you look because even if you don’t appreciate the way you look, somebody will.
#3 Have Some Fun!
The last step and the most important, to me, is to just make life the best that it can be. If you think that you can’t have fun, try something new. For me, it was Nerf Blasters. I thought that they were just a waste of my money, but when I really had a decent amount of time to just play with them, it changed my whole perspective. This is one of the things that I really urge you to do because It can go along with 1 and 2 because having fun helps your mental-preservation and it also helps your self-confidence because having fun is proven to boost morality and just overall be very good for you. I think that no matter anyone’s situation, you can always find something that isn’t as boring as everything else, you just have to look a little bit deeper than you usually would to find something.

Have you ever read “The Scarlet Ibis”? If so, you may recall that the two main characters are Doodle and the brother. However, you may have missed some of the things that develop the story into a more mature setting if you didn’t pay close enough attention.
The Backstory
“The Scarlet Ibis”, for the majority of the story, takes place in the early 20th century, in a normal village. However, unlike the rest of the kids in school, this boy’s brother is very different. Most of the kids that he knew had brothers that they could wrestle with and play outside with however, Doodle was very much different than the rest of the kids. He had a condition that made him very secluded from the others because he couldn’t really do much in the way of physical fun. Doodle’s brother couldn’t stand this because he didn’t want the other kids to judge him because his brother couldn’t do what they could so he put his own pride before his brother’s own health in an attempt to make himself look better. He started by trying to get him to walk so that he could do all kinds of things like the previously mentioned wrestling that all the “normal” kids did that he just couldn’t do with Doodle because of his condition.
Is pride blinding to those who care only for it?
This leads us to the first universal theme that I think that this text presents that you might not have caught on your first time reading this story. In my opinion, one of the themes that this story presents is that it’s easy for someone blinded by their pride to realize the difference between right and wrong. I think this is a theme that applies to this story because it says in the text, “When Doodle was five years old, I was embarrassed at having a brother of that age who couldn’t walk so I set out to teach him”. I think this shows how little Doodle’s brother cared for Doodle’s physical health and how much he cared for his image and how his family affected it. I think this shows the selfishness that Doodle’s brother has and how ignorant he truly was.
Does love require sacrifice?
The second universal theme that I think this text presents is that sacrifice is needed for love. I think that this a theme that applies to the text and everyone here in the real world because I think that a lot of people struggle to realize that in order to truly love someone, like your brother, you have to sacrifice things. I feel like Doodle’s brother didn’t realize this only using his brother to make himself look better because in the text it says that “I ran as fast as I could, leaving him far behind with a wall of rain dividing us” showing us that he cared more for his life then maybe sacrificing his life for Doodle and his safety. I think that this shows that selfishness can really bring out someone’s true colors whenever it means sacrificing something.
